গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কিন্তু অনেকের কাছে জটিল একটি বিষয় হলো Right form of verb এর If Clause বা Conditional Sentence।
পরীক্ষায় Right Form of
Verb, Completion ও Transformation এ If
Clause থেকে প্রশ্ন আসে। অনেক ছাত্রছাত্রী বুঝতে পারে না If clause
present হলে পরবর্তী clause এ
verb কী হবে, Past হলে
কী হবে এবং Had দিয়ে শুরু হলে কী হবে।
আজকে আমরা খুব সহজভাবে ৫টি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ If Clause Rule
শিখব, সাথে থাকবে উদাহরণ ও MCQ।
Right form of verb rules
Rules: 36-40:
Rule-36: If যুক্ত clause টি
Present indefinite tense হলে এবং পরবর্তী
clause এ
Subject এর পরে ( ) verb
থাকলে উক্ত ( ) verb টি shall/will + V1 হয়।
যেমন:
1. If
you study regularly, you — (achieve) success.
Ans-
will achieve
2. If
she works hard, she — (win) the prize.
Ans-
will win
3. If
they follow the rules, they — (succeed) in life.
Ans-
will succeed
Rule-37: If যুক্ত clause টি
Past indefinite tense হলে এবং পরবর্তী
clause এ Subject এর পরে () verb থাকলে উক্ত ( ) verb টি would/could/might + V1 হয়।
যেমন:
1. If I
knew his address, I — (visit) him.
Ans-
would visit
2. If
she tried again, she —- (solve) the problem.
Ans-
could solve
3. If
they practiced more, they —- (improve) their English.
Ans-
might improve
Rule-38: If যুক্ত clause টি
Past perfect tense হলে এবং পরবর্তী
clause এ Subject এর পরে ( ) verb থাকলে উক্ত ( ) verb টি would have/could have/might have + V3 হয়।
যেমন:
1. If
he had studied harder, he —- (pass) the exam.
Ans:
would have passed
2. If
they had invited me, I —- (attend) the party.
Ans:
could have attended
3. If
she had taken medicine, she —- (recover) earlier.
Ans:
might have recovered
Rule-39: If যুক্ত clause এ মুল verb টি were
হলে এবং পরবর্তী clause এ Subject এর পরে ( ) verb থাকলে উক্ত ( ) verb টি would/could/might + V1 অথবা would have/could have/might have + V3 হয়।
যেমন:
1. If I
were a teacher, I —- (guide) poor students.
Ans:
would guide
2. If
she were my sister, I — (help) her.
Answer:
could help
3. If
he were here, he — (explain) the lesson.
Answer:
could have explained
Rule-40: কোন clause "Had" দ্বারা শুরু হলে
এবং had এর অর্থ "যদি"
বোঝালে আর পরবর্তী clause এ Subject এর পরে ( ) Verb থাকলে উক্ত ( ) Verb টি would have/could have/might have + V3 হয়।
যেমন:
1. Had he worked harder, he —- (succeed).
Ans: would have succeeded
2. Had they informed me earlier, I — (prepar) better.
Ans: could have prepared
3. Had she arrived on time, she — (meet) the principal.
Ans: might have met
