Independence Day paragraph
Independence Day is a memorable day in the history of Bangladesh. About 30 lac people from all walks of life in Bangladesh had to sacrifice their lives for this Independence Day. At midnight on 25th March 1971, the West Pakistan Army pounced on the innocent people of East Pakistan like ferocious animals. They arrested Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and took him to West Pakistan. Before his arrest, he declared the independence of Bangladesh on the 26th of March. On the other hand, the Pakistani army started firing indiscriminately on the people of East Pakistan. They also carried out various kinds of brutality, including killing, looting, rape, and arson. The intrepid Bengalis of East Pakistan resisted the West Pakistani regime and all participated in the war to oust the Pakistani forces from East Pakistan and liberate the country from the enemy. The liberation war began. And that liberation war continued for nine months. After nine months of bloody battle, Bangladesh won victory on the 16th December 1971 at the cost of the lives of 30 lac martyrs and in return for the rape of innumerable mothers and sisters. Actually, the 26th of March is the Independence Day of Bangladesh because independence was declared on the 26th of March 1971. Since then, every year, the 26th March is celebrated as Independence Day with due solemnity. So Independence Day is a day of great glory and dignity in the national life of Bengalis.
