Right Form of Verb ইংরেজিতে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ গ্রামার টপিক। বোর্ড পরীক্ষা, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় ভর্তি পরীক্ষা কিংবা যেকোনো জব পরীক্ষায় এই টপিক থেকে প্রশ্ন প্রায়ই আসে। অনেক সময় নিয়ম জানা থাকলেও পরীক্ষার হলে কনফিউশন তৈরি হয়।

MCQ ও বোর্ড পরীক্ষার প্রশ্ন দিয়েছি যাতে তোমরা নিয়ম পড়ার পর সহজে নিজের প্রস্তুতি যাচাই করতে পারো। চল তাহলে এখন Right Form of Verb Part-6 Rules: 26-30 পড়া যাক।
Right form of verb rules
Rules: 26-30
Rule-26: One of the এর পরে Noun টি Plural এবং ( ) verb টি Singular হয়।
যেমন:
1. One of the players ______ (be) injured.
Ans: is
2. One of the teachers ______ (have) resigned.
Ans: has
3. One of the girls ______ (sing) very well. Ans: sings
Rule-27:
দুটি Noun/Pronoun এর মাঝে as well as, along with, together with, in addition to, accompanied by থাকলে এই Phrase গুলির পূর্ববর্তী word অনুযায়ী verb correction করতে হয়।
যেমন:
1. Karim along with his cousins ______ (go) to school.
Ans: goes
2. The teacher as well as the students ______ (be) present.
Ans: is
3. The players together with the coach ______ (arrive) early.
Ans: have arrived
Rule-28: কোন Sentence এ ( ) এর মধ্যে be থাকলে উক্ত be এর স্হানে tense অনুযায়ী am/are/is অথবা was/were অথবা shall be/ will be হয়।
NB: Present Indefinite Tense হলে am/are/is, Past Indefinite Tense হলে was/were আর Future Indefinite Tense হলে shall be/will be হয়।
যেমন:
1. The poor ______ (be) helpless sometimes.
Ans: are
2. Mina ______ (be) tired yesterday.
Ans: was
3. They ______ (be) successful one day.
Ans: will be
Rule-29: দুটি Sentence এর মাঝে Conjunction থাকলে ঐ conjunction এর প্রথম Verb টি যে রূপে থাকে দ্বিতীয় Verb টি ঐ রূপে হয়।
যেমন:
1. He failed because he ______ (neglect) his studies.
Ans: neglected
2. She entered the room and ______ (sit) on the chair.
Ans: sat
3. I saw him while he ______ (cross) the road.
Ans: was crossing
Rule-30: So that + subject এর পরে ( ) Verb থাকলে ঐ ( ) verb টি নিম্ন নিয়ম অনুযায়ী Correction করতে হয়।
a) can/may + V1 ( So that এর পূর্ব অংশ Present indefinite tense হলে)
b) Could/might + V1 (So that এর পূর্ব অংশ Past indefinite tense হলে)
যেমন:
1. We read regularly so that we ______ (pass) the exam.
Ans: may/can pass
2. He saved money so that he ______ (buy) a car.
Ans: could/might buy

Q-1: One of the এর পরে কেন Singular Verb হয়?
A: কারণ এখানে মূল Subject হচ্ছে One আর One হলো Singular. তাই Verb-ও Singular হবে।
Q-2: As well as থাকলে কেন দ্বিতীয় Subject অনুযায়ী Verb হয় না?
A: কারণ as well as মূল Subject কে বাড়তি তথ্য দেয়, কিন্তু Subject পরিবর্তন করে না। তাই Verb সবসময় প্রথম Subject অনুযায়ী হয়।
Right Form of Verb ভালভাবে শিখতে হলে নিয়ম মুখস্থ করার পাশাপাশি নিয়মিত Practice করতে হবে। বিশেষ করে Right Form of Verb Part-6 এর নিয়মগুলো পরীক্ষায় খুব কমন থাকে।
